Whether for a simple acoustic guitar, a full choir, a rock band or a string quartet, using our portable equipment can bring the studio to your rehearsal space, live venue or even home with our fully mobile location recording packages. By working in your own comfortable surroundings, we hope to bring out the best in your performance.

Our packages can include recording, editing, mixing, mastering, and duplication. We can even have your artwork designed and CDs and sleeves printed. We can arrange MCPS Licences and your retail barcode, and we can distribute your finished product. All these to save you time and reduce your stress. You simply choose which elements you need in your package from location recording through to audio production and we will price it accordingly. You only pay for the items you need.

About

Start Something Ltd was founded in April 2009. Company Director Chris had graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2006 with a Degree in Music Technology and Sound Recording. After several attempts to gain a job in this field there was always someone with more practical experience, and it always seems the case of 'its not what you know, but who you know'.

So after been offered a job at a studio in London but sadly not been able to take this position due to the financial restraints, Chris finally decided to go it alone, and formed Start Something Ltd.

Having studied location recording as part of the Degree and not having the facilities to open a fully operational recording studio initially, it was decided that Start Something would specialize in location recording.

Soon after the plans for the company were created, Chris was offered the chance to join a business start up incentive funded by the European Union and through a scheme called Genesis at the BBIC in Barnsley. This gave the business access to office space and studio space, meaning that Start Something could offer more than just location recording, but a range of other audio production services from voice over recording, acoustic recording and video production.

The first work under the new Start Something banner was done with the Bolsterstone MVC at a live concert in Stocksbridge. Using the location recording equipment and mobile studio set up, the evening that celebrated the BMVC's 75th Year was captured in audio format, this also included a performance by the Bangor Ladies Choir from Northern Ireland.

This work led onto a recording with the Anston Male Voice Choir to produce their 2009 CD. With the location side of Start Something, we have the capabilites to bring the studio to any place you may wish to record. And having worked on many other location recordings, Start Something has the knowledge and experience that is vital to getting your performance down onto CD.
